織の基本である平織りをメインテクニックとして用い、それをベースに少しの工夫とテクニックで織りの幅が広がることをご紹介したくて、いろんな作品を集めてみました。
難易度はそれぞれ異なりますが、ここにある作品はすべて、教室の織り機を使って作ることができます。
使っている材料も、ウールやコットンなどおなじみの毛糸はもちろんのこと、紙の糸や銅線などを使った作品もあります。
These are just few examples of what you can do with plain weave by choosing unique materials such as paper yarn and copper wire and by adding a bit of simple technique. These can be woven on the looms in my class.
WALL HANGING
フィンランド製の細い紙の糸を使い、HVテクニーク（またはトランスペアレンシー）という技法で織りました。たて糸は紙の糸とシルバーのメタル糸、横糸は紙の糸を平織に、極太のコットン糸で模様を浮き上がらせています。
複雑に見えて実はこれは平織から派生したテクニック。平織の間に別の糸を挟んで模様を浮き上がらせます。
モチーフは北欧の冬の湖。湖が凍るほどの寒い冬も、ようやく春先には少しづつ溶けて、表面に美しい氷でできた模様が浮かび上がります。そんなイメージでデザインしました。
"Transparency" is a way to create pattern on plain weave. Paper and silver metallic yarn as a warp, the pattern with cotton was created. Beautiful pattern with ice appears on the surface of a lake in spring as ice and snow start to melt. This is inspired by that beautiful seanary I saw in Sweden.
ミニオブジェ
銅線を平織で織り、ミニビルが立ち上がるかのように四角にまとめて、同系色のピュアウールのフェルトとシルバーメタリックの糸でアクセントを施しました。
Copper wire was woven on a loom and formed into like a mini building. Pure wool felt and silver thread was embroidered on.
Shawl
カシミア、シルク、メリノなどの極細糸を使って、平織で織った大判のショールです。極細のカシミアなのでとても柔らかく肌触りも抜群です。
薄いので首に巻いてももこもこせず、またショールのように方にも羽織れる万能サイズです。
首に巻いたときにどのあたりにどんなパターンや色を出すか、顔移りのの良い色は何か、また全体にバランスはとれているかと熟考してから織り作業が始まります。
Cashmere, silk, extrafine merino were mixed into this scarf to create smooth to the skin and feather light to carry around.
Design is carefully made before each piece of work starts to be created.
BAG
光沢のあるコットンの細い糸とブラックのメタリック糸を合わせて平織し、そのあとバッグに仕上げました。
一色だけで織りあげる平織は少し平坦になりがちですが、このように光る糸を入れることによってぐっと個性が光ります。
Mercerized black cotton and black metallic yarn were woven to be a bag. If solid color looks boring to you, it can be enhanced by mixing different types of yarn in the same color.
Cushion
平織をメインに”Honey Comb"というテクニックを一部分取り入れたクッションカバーです。この技術は凹凸ができるのでテキスチャーを加えるのに最適。使う糸によってエレガントにもカジュアルにも仕上がります。
平織専用の織り機でもこんな模様を入れることができます。
6 harnesses are needed for Honey Comb, but you can weave it by using a pick stick. A line of honey comb is seen on the plain weave cushion.
